John Alexander Moore,
June 13, 1938 - September 13, 2025

John Alexander Moore, age 87 of Johnson City, Tennessee passed away peacefully at home on September 13, 2025. He was born to the late John and Juanita Moore on June 13, 1938, in Johnson City, Tennessee. He was a man of The Christian faith and was raised at Central Baptist Church.

John graduated from Science Hill High School and later attended E.T.S.U. He graduated from The University of Tennessee with a bachelor's degree in engineering. After graduating from U.T. he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas. Once John was honorably discharged from the Army, he began a 37-year career with Eastman Kodak working in Tennessee and in Connecticut.

John married the love of his life, Peggy Paynter and together they had two sons. John enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, feeding the wildlife, working on his lawn, and was an avid woodworker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 49 years, Peggy Moore and son, John "Andrew" Moore.

He is survived by his son, Roger Moore; brothers, Dwight (Suzanne) Moore, Richard Moore, Danny (Susan) Moore, nephew, Mark Moore and niece, Meredith Moore.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Morris-Baker Funeral home with a funeral service following at 7:00pm. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 10:00am at Happy Valley Memorial Park. All attending are asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:50am.
